the heirloom basin takes most of the work out of indoor hydroponics. It's a 20L system that holds twice as much water per plant as our earlier basins, so there's far less topping up and far more time spent enjoying what you're growing.
Antibacterial silicone net cups, a single tidy connection and a wipe-clean basin mean less fuss at every step, from planting to refilling to the occasional clean.

With twice the water per plant of our earlier basins, the heirloom basin goes much longer between refills. Less time with a watering can, more time watching things grow.
net cups with a built-in algae guard
All 18 net cups have an integrated algae guard that blocks the light algae need to take hold. That means cleaner roots, fewer wasted nutrients, and plants that just get on with growing.
wipes clean in seconds
Root residue, rockwool and nutrients build up over time. The antibacterial silicone net cups and the basin's high-gloss surface and smooth corners leave nowhere for grime to lodge, so a quick wipe is usually all it takes. A single opening also lets you lift plants out without tearing their roots.
one connection, oxygen-rich water
Setting up is a single connection. The integrated pump keeps the water aerated and full of oxygen, which is what keeps roots healthy and growth fast, with nothing for you to manage day to day.
mess-free refills, every time
The basin is shaped with a built-in funnel, so topping up is spill-free. No puddles on the shelf, no mopping up afterwards.
built to last, then recycled
The basin is made from food-safe ABS that's impact-resistant and scratch-resistant, and it won't fade with age. When it finally reaches the end of its life, it's fully recyclable, so it doesn't end up as landfill.

The heirloom basin works just as well on its own as an outdoor hydroponic garden, and there are two ways to run it.
kratky (passive)
Kratky is a passive method that uses no pumps and no power. As the water level drops, the roots above the line take in oxygen, the same way our heirloom planters work. It doesn't grow quite as vigorously as an aerated setup, but it's low-maintenance and easy to get right, and the kit comes with everything you need to grow this way.
deep water culture (DWC)
DWC adds a pump or airstone to keep the water oxygenated, which means faster growth and less risk of roots wilting. It's the method we use in the sun garden and sun shelf, and in earlier models like the family farm, ecokitchen and terragarden. To run the heirloom basin this way you'll need a power adaptor (available in our store) and a coupler.
