Easy To Learn, easy To Master

With so few variables and no complex parts, getting started is incredibly easy. As long as you've got around 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, you'll be able to grow most herbs and leafy greens. With 9+ hours you can grow veggies like beans, tomatoes, and even chillies!

Seasons ahead of the competition

Hydroponics smashes soil gardening on growth size and speed every time. With easy to use liquid nutrients that dissolve into water, your plants don't need to expend energy searching for nutrients through potentially infertile soil. The result is faster growth and bigger plants!

Water every quarter

The Heirloom Planter is fully hydroponic, meaning it grows in water with no soil, so all you have to do is top up the reservoir when it's low and add liquid nutrients. Hydroponics uses 95% less water than soil gardening making the heirloom planter the closest thing to 'set and forget' that you'll find in the gardening world.

No soil needed

The Heirloom Planter grows its plants in a tiny growing medium smaller than a shotglass! The plant roots grow downwards in the reservoir and find water and nutrients ready and waiting for them.

The most recyclable material on the planet

If the day comes that you want to ditch your heirloom planter, don't worry! We've made it out of high-quality recyclable aluminium!

Heirloom planter instructions

It’s so easy you can get growing in under 30 seconds!

  1. Put the rockwool cube in the silicone netcup (both provided both in the 2L & 10L kit).
  2. Plant the seed of your choice in the rockwool.
  3. Insert the barbs of the netcup into the lid.
  4. Fill the planter with water up to almost the very top.
  5. Add our special plant nutrients (50mL provided in both the kits).
  6. Place the lid on the planter and you’re growing!

The Heirloom Planter uses a passive system, meaning no pumps or airstones are required. As the water level drops, roots above the waterline absorb oxygen. For best results, wait until the water level drops to 10% of the pot’s height before refilling to half the pot’s height.

How It Works

As your plant grows it uses up the water, as the water level falls the roots grow downward to chase it. The section of the roots that hang in the air oxygenate your plant. As the pot is an enclosed environment, the heat from outside creates a super high humidity microclimate for your plant which allows for healthy plant and root growth.

Your plant will get all of its nutrients from the nutrient solution which comes included in your pots. Unlike soil nutrients, hydroponic nutrients contain all the essential minerals that a plant needs to grow, and as they are already dissolved and floating around in water, your plants can access them without spending energy in search of nutrients as they would in soil. The result? Stronger, healthier plant growth.

It's ok

I found the lid so tight I nearly took off a finger trying to remove it. Adding water when it is required is going to be a nightmare. I had to turn the pot on its side and press the bowl to remove the lid. I can't imagine the destruction it will cause to anything growing in the pot if i have to do this each time it needs water. Instructions are a bit vague. I couldn't find cage spikes and had to guess that one. And finding the nutrients specific to growing tomatoes isn't there.

Hi Marilyn,

Thanks for your feedback, we're so sorry that you've had a poor experience with our pot lid! They're made to be tight enough to not fly off in the wind - while also being able to not tip over under the weight of the plant. As you only need to water every few months, we deemed it more important to make the lid secure.

There's a little trick to taking the lid off easily, which is to get your fingers under the location of one of the three notches in the lid which are used to secure the lid, and then just pull up. If you lift between two of the notches it's slightly harder as it squeezes the notch in tighter.

We'll add this to our manuals the next time around for extra clarity. As a design-led company we're always trying to improve our products.

Regarding cage spikes - we sadly don't sell these as they're incredible cheap and readily available from most hardware stores. Shipping them across the country is expensive and wasteful for everyone when for most people they're just a short trip away from home!
