This Privacy Policy explains how Urban Plant Growers Pty Ltd, trading as gathera ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information when you visit gathera.com, buy from us or contact us. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What personal information we collect

  • Order and account details: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, order history and account login details.
  • Payment details: payments are processed by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments, PayPal and Afterpay). We do not store your full card number.
  • Communications: messages, photos and other information you send us when you contact customer support, enter a giveaway, leave a review or reply to our emails.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you have subscribed to our newsletter and how you interact with our emails.
  • Device and usage information: your IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, referring website and similar data collected through cookies, pixels and log files.

We collect most of this information directly from you. Some is collected automatically when you use our website, and some may come from our service providers (for example, delivery status updates from couriers).

Why we collect and use it

  • To process, deliver and support your orders, including returns and warranty claims.
  • To respond to your questions and provide customer service.
  • To send you marketing emails where you have subscribed. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
  • To run our website, prevent fraud, and understand how customers use our site so we can improve it.
  • To show you relevant advertising on platforms such as Meta and Google.
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as tax and consumer law record keeping.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with organisations that help us run our business, including:

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store;
  • payment providers, to process payments;
  • warehouse, fulfilment and courier partners in Australia, to pack and deliver your order;
  • customer support and email tools, to answer your enquiries and send emails you have signed up for;
  • analytics and advertising providers such as Google and Meta; and
  • our professional advisers, or government authorities where required by law.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information in a way consistent with the APPs.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working (for example, your cart), measure traffic, and show relevant ads. You can control cookies through your browser settings and opt out of personalised ads through your Google ad settings and Meta ad settings. Google Analytics can be disabled with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

How we keep it secure

We use reputable platforms with encryption and access controls, and limit access to staff and providers who need it. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@gathera.com. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If you are located in the UK or EU, you also have rights under the GDPR, which you can exercise the same way.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please email us at hello@gathera.com and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
