With so few variables and no complex parts, getting started is incredibly easy. As long as you've got around 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, you'll be able to grow most herbs and leafy greens. With 9+ hours you can grow veggies like beans, tomatoes and even chillies!
Hydroponics has come out on top in every single competition we've done against soil plants. With easy to use liquid nutrients that dissolve into water, your plants don't need to expend energy searching for nutrients through potentially infertile soil. The result is faster growth and bigger plants!
The Heirloom Planter is fully hydroponic, meaning it grows in water with no soil. One of the benefits to this is that ALL of the water in the pot is used up by the plant. By comparison 95% of the water used in soil gardening is lost to evaporation into the air, or filtration deeper into the soil. The result? You might not need to refill your water for up to three months depending on your plant of choice and climate conditions!
The Heirloom Planter grows its plants in a tiny growing medium smaller than a shotglass! The roots grow directly into the nutrient water, meaning no soil is required, eliminating the messy clean ups that happen when soil pots tip over indoors!
If the day comes that you want to ditch your heirloom planter, don't worry! We've made it out of recyclable aluminium!

It’s so easy you can get growing in under 30 seconds!
The plant has no pumps or airstones - it relies on the water level dropping so that the roots above the waterline can breathe in oxygen. This means that for best results you must wait until your water level drops to 10% of the pot height, before adding water until it fills half the pot. What's included:
As your plant grows it uses up the water, as the water level falls the roots grow downward to chase it. The section of the roots that hang in the air oxygenate your plant. As the pot is an enclosed environment, the heat from outside creates a super high humidity microclimate for your plant which allows for healthy plant and root growth.
Your plant will get all of its nutrients from the nutrient solution which comes included in your pots. Unlike soil nutrients, hydroponic nutrients contain all the essential minerals that a plant needs to grow, and as they are already dissolved and floating around in water, your plants can access them without spending energy in search of nutrients as they would in soil. The result? Stronger, healthier plant growth.
